FRANCES ALICE FOLEY BERRY
Childhood in Sacramento

Here are the few photos of Frances' childhood. I retained the full size - someday monitors will be larger.

This appears to be 3021 C Street in Sacramento. From the inscription on back of photo:
Frances, Florence, and Vincent Foley, 28th and C Street, Sacramento.
Frances further told me that this was their Grandmother Hunt's house.
Note the train in the back and "beware of the dog" sign.

The photo was apparently colorized by hand.

The house is now an empty lot - the left of this photo. But the house just to the right, 3027 C Street is
still standing and occupied. It appears to be the same floorplan as 3021 C Street.

Here's an aerial view, showing the train tracks in the back and the vacant lot that used to be 3021 C Street

2905 G Street, rented across from Leland Stanford School which Vince and Frances attended.
Agnes and baby Florence, Frances and Vincent, and a little girl,
playmate of Frances (that someone had scribbled out)

NOTE: The family lived at 28th an G street when Frances was born, across from
Sutter's Fort, near a Catholic Church.

It appears that the 2900 block of G street was leveled to put in I-80.

Vin and Frances Foley on beach at Long Beach, CA, visiting Aunt Tessie

Frances and Vince, and cousin LaVerne Foley, 30th and C street, Sacramento.

NOTE: LaVerne Foley went to Hollywood and worked in motion pictures

Here is a note Frances wrote around 2005 about her life as a child, describing life without electricity, and neighbors making whiskey in bathtubs.
