"David Wolfe" SmoothieOctober 4, 2009: I started making smoothies for breakfast about 10 years ago. Back then they were pretty lame: "Throw an apple and banana in a blender." Then i started adding almonds, strawberries and ice, and added frozen blueberries and such from Trader Joes. Now I call my smoothies "David Wolfe smoothies" because of his influence on the ingredients. These are superior to anything at Jamba Juice, because, other than oranges and carrots, Jamba Juice uses processed pasteurized puree. (The only possible unhealthy thing about these is that I eat them during my commute to work, while driving with my knees.) The first photo is typical ingredients that I blend dry to grind. (While a Vita-mix would be nice, I use a $30 Osterizer.) Then I'll add additional powders like stevia, maca, and hemp, and then add water and blend. Then I add varied fruits, both fresh like apple, orange, kiwi, strawberries, pineapple, banana - and also frozen from Trader Joes like blueberries, blackberries, mango, papaya, (and Acai from a health food store), and blend. Finally I add about a cup of ice to create result like a sorbet. The result is like an amazing frozen dessert that is incredibly healthy. For more information Google: david wolfe smoothie
