Kim Berry - 1958 - 1960 in New HampshireEd graduated from Caltech in June 1957. The following school year he was a part time physics instructor and part-time graduate student as Sac State (CSU Sacramento). About April 1958 he saw a notice on the wall of the physics department about teaching fellowships at Dartmouth College, so he applied. There were only six positions awarded and he was one of the six. So the summer of 1958, when I was only a few weeks old, he bought the old truck and drove to New Hampshire. His younger brother Jay did not have anything better to do, so what the hell! The truck allowed them to camp out the whole way, kind of like the original hippie truck. My mother and I came by airplane some weeks later. Ed started the teaching job and as a graduate student at Dartmouth in September 1958. The Teaching Fellowship paid his whole way to getting a masters degree plus he learned a lot just being a teaching fellow. When they arrived the bought a used Fiat. Here's Carole posing in October 1958 near "Old Man in the Mountain":

In late June 1960 we packed up and returned to Sacramento. My father then had a master's degree from Dartmouth College. (Jay Scott was born in September 1960, so he must have been in the oven here.)
