Ed Berry - Summer 1958 drive to New Hampshire

In 1958 Ed enrolled at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Ed bought an old GMC truck for less than $100 (based on Google images, I estimate this was a 1947-1949 one-ton GMC) and fitted with a plywood camper shell, and had to fix a lot of things. Then he and his younger brother JK drove it from Sacramento to New Hampshire in the summer of 1958. I'm sure a few photos don't capture the entire experience.

Here's the truck under construction at their house on 3824 La Soledad Way, near Oak Park, Sacramento. Those shutters on the windows were not to keep out burglars. They were to prevent Jay and Ed from breaking more windows when playing basketball on the driveway. The garage was an extension of the original garage which is in back of it. There was no room to expand the garage sideways so my grandfather expanded it front ways.
